Spirit of WIPRO Run 2016 Marks its 6th Year in Malaysia

Last Sunday morning, Mommy Jane had brought me to attend an annual charity event i.e. Spirit of WIPRO Run. It now marks its 6th year in Malaysia and the event was held concurrently around the world where thousands of WIPRO employees, their families, friends, customers, partners and suppliers run together on the same day at different locations where WIPRO has its offices for a good cause. At the international level, this is 11th year the Spirit of WIPRO Run is held and this year there are more than 83,000 registrations from across 114 cities taken part.
The objective of the "Spirit of WIPRO Run" is to foster the values that WIPRO UNZA considers to be the foundation of the Company i.e. Intensity to Win, Act with Sensitivity and Unyielding Integrity. It is also a CSR initiative to improve education and to the local communities where WIPRO operates in.
The run kicked off at the break of dawn with more than 4,300 participants made of employees, vendors, friends and suppliers culminating in Perdana Botanical Garden (Lake Garden. Some reached as early as 6 a.m. and I reached at 6.45 a.m. The run start off with a warm up session facilitated by the Nike Ambassador that got all of us pumped up for the run.
WIPRO employees and their families had participated for free while their friends, vendors, business partners and suppliers have to pay RM10 per person only. WIPRO UNZA had also invited and sponsored children from Rumah Kanak-Kanak Trinity Selangor of  for the event. For the past 2 years, the Company has been sponsoring the tuition fees for the children. Indeed a good caused that all Companies should follow for the well-being of the children.
There are 3 categories for the run i.e. Men Open at 8km, Women Open at 8km and Family Fun Run at 3km. I saw lots of parents pushing their baby's stroller and children as young as 2 years old had joined the spirit of the run with family. There are more than 4,300 participants who had participated on that day.
Mr Siram Krishnamurthy, Chief Executive of WIPRO Unza Malaysia Sdn Bhd had said that the Spirit of Wipro Run which is one of the world's largest global employee engagement initiatives, showcases the passion, determination and collective effort of numerous individuals across the world. It fosters and strengthens a sense of team spirit not just within our organisation but also with their network of customers, partners, suppliers, employee families and others.

After the run, all participants were given a goodie bag which consist of a cap, products from WIPRO and a finishing medal. They were then treated with buffet and children like me were happy with the cotton candy and popcorns which are available throughout the event. Children like me were happily playing at the Inflatable castles, fishing pond game, and game booths. Whether you're old or young, you still can play the games to win some prizes. For more details. do check out their website at www.wipro-unza.com.
I enjoyed myself so much for the Spirit of WIPRO Run 2016 and hope to be part of the charity run again next year. The booth games might be challenging because children and adults have to adhere with the same rules but with much effort, I did won myself some prizes home. It is indeed a great morning that I had spend with my family while enjoyed all the activities together for a healthier life for a good caused.
